    Baby blues!!!

    My wife has just been granted her further leave to ramain (2 years) woo-hoo (after only 5 days, not bad i think. But have just been informed of an even better event happeng, she's pregnant, and with reading the letter back from the home office it stated that "you are not entitled to receive public funds to help meet your living and accommodation costs (or those of any dependants). In addition your sponsor is not entitled to receive public funds on your behalf...blah, blah..."

    the public funds which will concern me are;
    child benifit
    working tax credit
    or
    child tax credit

    Surely when the baby is born, it( it as we dont know what sex it is yet) will be a British Citizen, of a british father, its every childs right to get that isn't it....confusing. ANYONE HELP WITH THIS PLEASE

    congrats

    your'e right, YOU can claim child benefit and maybe tax creds depending on your earnings, but your wife cannot, so make sure you only claim anything, not your wife, thou you will have to put her details down, there is a part on the forms, where it asks, who is cliaming it, just put you...

    and use the search function on here, its been covered many times already

    I have never done it but as long as in your name you can claim just not the person who is not allowed to.

    The normal british crazy rules.
