sorry boss i tried to research is there is an answer to my question but i couldnt find any
anyway i hope someone can tell me what car insurance company can cover my filipino driver's license? my husbands car insurance company ELEPHANT said they cant cover me driving with my filipino license... that they only cover EU licenses and not filipino ones..
my only choice now is to switch insurance company or just get the UK license..

thanks for all the info guys...
spoke with DVLA.. might just register a provisional license (cause our insurance company can insure me if i have one) and then take the proper UK license test after. They said i really have to get a provisional license before i can apply for a proper UK license and that i cannot jump from my foreign license to taking the proper UK license... so that was the clincher.. might as well do it now if i have to do it eventually...
They said I will have to post my passport, d1 form, passport sized picture and a check...
    appreciate all the help guys...

I'm not living in UK, but when when I raise the question to my insurance company (AXA) here in France, they told me: if the licence is recognized by the French administration, we will cover your wife. We went to the administration at driving licence office where they told us that Filipino driving licence was recognized and she was able to drive in France (you can even rent a car and be insured). So no problem with us.

You can ask a car rental (like Hertz, Avis or other) if you can hire and drive a card in the UK with a Filipino driving licence, just to test and know.
    Best regards.
    Yves

Ligaya asked me what it was for? as we just keep a few thousand pesos in the pajero in Palawan in case we hit a trike, a dog, a police car(yes Ligaya did that) or whatever else turns up on the road. Somehow I am glad my new company Honda cr-v is a manual and not auto otherwise Bham drivers/pedsetrians and domestic pets may not be safe!!!.
Live your life for a reason and don't worry be happy

if you don't know where you are going then any road will do!!

if you are a resident of the uk,
i think them filipino's are naughty, if you get caught doing that, i'm sure your insurance will be invalid, you are driving with an invalid license..

if you are a resident of the uk you have to pass your UK driving test within 1 yr of when you FIRST entered the uk or you cannot drive in the uk, going back out of the uk and getting another license will make no difference ...

also if you have dual nationality, british and say filipino, you cannot drive in the uk on a international license, you must have a uk one

    from the dvla web site

    "Residents
If you are the holder of an ordinary driving licence (car, moped, motorcycle entitlement) and provided your licence remains valid, you can drive any category of small vehicle shown on your licence for up to 12 months from the time you became resident. To ensure continuous driving entitlement a provisional GB licence must have been obtained and a driving test(s) passed before the 12-month period elapses. If you obtain a provisional licence during this period, you are not subject to provisional licence conditions eg displaying 'L' plates or being supervised by a qualified driver or being precluded from motorways.

However, if you do not pass a test within the 12-month concessionary period you will not be allowed to drive as a full licence holder and provisional licence conditions will apply. If you do not apply for a provisional licence within the first 12 months you must stop driving and obtain a British provisional licence with a view to passing a driving test. Provisional licence conditions will then apply."
