Hi Philip, if you're not up to date with your inoculations i.e. tetanus, polio etc. and have not been to other country lately where it's needed, then you will probably need jabs. Plus depending on where you go in Philippines, you might also need some anti malaria tablets.
The best place to go for advice would be to your own doctor's surgery where you can get a leaflet or ask advice from the nurse, and if like my own doctor's surgery, they will have record of your inoculations in the past, therefore more appropriate in giving you the type of jabs you'll need.

The most important thing is Mozzy repelant with a good % of DEET in it.
Dengue can be pretty nasty and there is no existing inoculation to prevent it.

You can then take it to your GP and they will give you the jabs (which are free).
You should have typhoid, tetanus & hep A. I doubt your GP would offer you any more. In any case, go and talk to your GP who will be able to tell you how up to date you are with the jabs.

The hourdervs were really very tasty but remained a secret recipe until after I had scoffed the lot.

In some areas there are small clinics which deal with just jabs for traveling abroad. I know there used to be in one in hounslow. Best to check on the area in phill your going but for most people the most important precautions are as fred says avoid being bitten by mossies and getting dodgy stomachs.
