You have about a 1 in 10 chance of getting a good Filipina girl, even less via chat or mail order brides. I do know one lucky guy on this forum who is a rare exception to the online approach.
As RHB says - ABOUT a 1 in 10 chance....... an anecdotal figure.

Reminds me of 'SAVE UP TO 50% ON OUR LATEST OFFER' etc. etc. You probably end up saving 1 or 2 per cent.
It's in the wording - or - in the immortal words of the great Frank Carson 'It's the way I tell 'em.'

Someone suggested asking our family of Filipinas here on the forum for their comments - personally, I don't think that would be of any use as I believe all our ladies on here are the 'right' kind of Filipinas - so how would they know anything about the 'wrong' kind?

As for my personal experiences with Filipinas in the initial stages - I can only guesstimate but I reckon to have spoken to 1 good to 8 'dodgy' ones.

May peace reign and Happy Saturday to you all.

    Al.

scammed, used, cheated, whatever... its going on everywhere by everyone, friends, families, people you work with, people you don't know.

keep your friends close but your enimies closer - might have first been said by an african Mobutu, a ruler of Zaire\the Congo

I think that if Dalyn had ever asked me for money for this that and the other before we got married then I would have immediately thought "scammer!" and ended it.
Of course I sent her money to get her UK immigration application submitted and the cost of the trip to Manila for the interview but that was all.

I would have thought that many of the guys on this forum had been fleeced by ex-wives and would have thought twice before handing out money to a girl they hardly knew.

There must be a very fine line between helping your girls family with everything they ask for and being taken for a right mug!

Do all Filipinas think we Westerners are rich? I don't think so. When you're blowing most of your income on paying the bills and perhaps supporting your kids you can't afford to just give your money away.

When you've got to know your filipina, have got married and taken a measured view of your finances and her family's situation then you can make proper decisions on what you are prepared to help out with.
I certainly don't subscribe to this idea of sending regular money for everything
the family can dream up. The population of the Philippines will never stand on their own feet if they sink into this dependance on foreign handouts.

most Filipinas don't wish to insult or confront; it is not the Asian way. they would consider the insults thrown and direct confrontation here abhorent.
just as a question how many of you blokes, is that the right word? ever lived any length of time in the Philippines? other than say, a condo in Makati...

Insults thrown? Most of its called british humour. You take the mick out of those you like. We are just waiting on the date for Mr Admin and Joe to get Hitched

Many of us have lived in phill for various periods of time, but does that make any of us an expert? You will only see a small slice of whats going on, in one small area.

I have friends who have lived in the UK who have come from abroad and very few i would consider an expert on British Life or even understand it. Having lived abroad i can say the same even living with a family or various families.

Same with British or other non US people who have lived in the US, many had a very different viewpoint to yanks who i heard conversations them have conversations with. Some even talking about the same town or area.

My Wife has lived in the same town in the UK for three years she still would i know not claim to be an expert on all the goings on, missing or misinterperting things that happen right in front of her which me or other brits pick up on straight away.

When i have been to web cafes most are just chatting to friends in tagalog (most in the next web cafe probaly) or playing games.

I think what people on here are getting at is 9 out of 10 people in phill are unlikely to be scammers otherwise that works out at 72 million people are con persons which i think unlikely. Most of the profiles i presume in the dating pages (never used them so only making educated guess) are probably from a very small group of people with them having multiple profiles.

But what does seem to be a common link on here is that many of the couples met in other ways other than on dating sites i belive.

I think we all knew you meant that deep down otherwise why would you live there surrounded by all these shady people

But many on here have experienced some nutters on here that have written posts on this forum some fairly insulting posts which if left on here uncomment agasint look like they represent people on the website. One in particular i can remeber really pushing the fillipinas particularly those who have moved to the UK and imo have grown in self confidence and self belief

Just like you 50 percent of most of our familes (well in numbers of family members the phills outnumber the westners in most cases i bet) are in phill or a phill born so get a bit touchy as you can im sure understand.

Im sure your get used to us and our strange humour you have an expert in Alan nearby it appears to explain the weird behaviour us Brits call humour

what's a condo in makati got to do with it been many times over the last 7 years, laguna, Baguio, Puerto Princesa and yes makati. etc. I've seen the good and the bad sides of the philippines, just like most, if not all countries have.

over must be 8 years now, i've chatted to filipina's using icq, yes maybe thats different than going on a dating site, where scammers are more likely to be found, out of the 15-20 i use to chat to alot, none ever asked me for money, granted we were just cyber friends, but i known some for years...

and i married the first filipina, no a lie, i married the sister of the first filipina i ever chatted to...

i suppose if you goto certain places where scammers are known to be, like dating websites sooner or later your'll going to end up chatting to them, or them chatting to you might not always the best place to find a partner or compare most filipina's to the ones who do scam

A lucky escape working in Brentford even for 850 pounds a week would not be on

Good work though spoting it and more importantly reporting it
