Just returned from the Cote D'Azur

Just to let everyone know what a great destination the Cote D'Azur is, for couples to enjoy a great weekend break.

Miss Gina and I just returned last weekend from the South of France, I know some of guys with your Filipino wives are looking for somewhere to take them to see the sights.

I think Nice in the South of France is a great place, to take your girl to have fun and see a lovely coastline, I know Yves will back me up on this one, we stayed at the Hotel Splendid in Victor Hugo Boulevard, and the Nice main station SNCF is about 10 minutes walk up the road.

From there we took a beautifully clean and on time, double decker SNCF train to Monaco and Monte Carlo, I have to say it was everything we hoped, Miss Gina had great fun going up to the Grimaldi Palace but so sad as she did not see Prince Rainier.

However we had great fun travelling through from Monaco to Cannes, the shopping was incredible, and the food in Nice and surrounding area was great.

We jumped on your friendly Easyjet from Luton and the 2 hour 10 minute flight to Cote D'Azur airport in Nice was comfortable and enjoyable.

Miss Gina told me it was a weekend to remember, and for all you fashion girls, Nice and Monaco are the places to be seen with your bags !!!!

I hope you meet Francesca and her family there, you were just near her flat.
    Best regards.

How very odd, I've just returned from there too! I spent 3 days last week working down there in Beaulieu Sur Mer between Nice and Monaco.
I flew into Nice and met up with my colleague who drove down.
We had an easy day on Wednesday and finished early so we drove into Monaco and had a look around at the fabulous superyachts.

I agree Pete it's a great place to visit although a bit cold in February. I've been to the South of France in the summer and the traffic was a nightmare.

I'm going back in a few weeks and if the weathers good enough I might go diving. I'd love to take Daryl Lynn with me but it's just too much grief getting a visa for her.
We did apply for a visa interview before just for a weekend break to Calais but she cancelled it because it's just too much trouble getting there and supplying all the paperwork just for a 2 day trip.
We hope to go to France/ Europe in the summer and need to choose whether to just either go for the visa or apply for her British Citizenship.

Hello mate, yes i saw Beaulieu Sur Mer on our travels through to Monaco, great to hear you were there, yes it was a little chilly in Monaco on the Saturday, the sun just broke through in the afternoon for about 30 minutes, and then it was chilly again, we were dissapointed as we thought the weather would be nice, but I am definately going back to Nice in the summer months.

I agree getting a schengen visa is hard work, the French Embassy is worse, however may I recommend the Italian Consulate for getting the visa, its straightforward and once you have been for an interview, it takes 2 weeks to get the visa, we took a 2 day trip to Rome one weekend to enter through Italy on first visit, and had a fantastic time.

The French Embassy can be awkward and time consuming, plus now as yo said, we can go to Calais shopping whenever we want.

At around 210€ the round trip per person, I prefer the traffic jams...
And in Feb, there's no traffic jams there....
    Best regards.

I second that, 3 weeks ago I went to London with hubby for an interview to get a schengen visa for France. The que was outrageous, there was lots and lots of applicants waiting outside before the staff has let us in.

And when I got inside I was shocked to see more people sat and have their numbers waiting to be called.
My schedule was 2pm, I got there for 1pm and finished at 5pm. Wow! 4 hours waiting. I thot it was a proper interview, but when my number has finally called. They only asked my documents, and only took 2 minutes. They told me to wait 2 to 3 weeks before I get the result, and too bad is they don't send it, I have to go back there to pick the visa whenever.

The good thing was, I don't have to pay to get a schengen.

Hassle eh?!! but nevermind, im spending my holyweek in Paris still.

Did your hubby wait in the pub nearby with the mad aussie bar staff?
I waited so long i was a little tipsy as i rehyrdated on fosters and celebrated Anzac day with them
Luckily the wife was at the front of the queue otherwise i doubt i would have been able to walk.

Nope, my hubby has went with me inside. Poor him, he fell asleep and got numb bum.

Surely if he went to the pub instead, perhaps he wouldn't know that I was with him or it was the same day. lol

Well here I am on the Cote D'Azur again. Lovely sunny weather and went for a beach dive today in Villefranche.
Shame the wife couldn't come, she'd have liked it.

Saw some superyachts for hire last night £508,000 PER WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!
I worked out that I could fly 10 friends and family to the Phils first class, stay in a top resort for a month, buy a 5 bedroom beachfront house with guest house, boat, motorbike and car while I was there then bank the rest of the money and live on P85,000 per month for life!!!!!!!

I guess such sums are petty cash to some people
