When people join forums for good intentions, it is easy to overlook all the rules. I can understand why the rule is in place. A few ruin it for the masses.

I use Call Happy its 7p/min to Philippine Landline and 9p/min to Philippine Mobile.

Wanted to share my thoughts and what I do for the cheapest text and voice calls.
For TEXTS:
I've also got one of the roaming Globe Sims of ebay (arrived in around 1 week) and that's great for incomming texts at 1 peso each.
I also use a great online company for outgoing texts at 7p each which sends the text as if you used the mobile number, so I choose the +63 Globe Sim so that my friend can just reply to it. You can also send texts using it from any mobile phone over the GPRS connection. It's really good.
VOICE:
For outgoing voice, I've used Planettalk for a while and found them to be pretty good. Probably get through first time about 80% of the time and the other 20% after a few minutes.
O2 PAYG is great, buy a Sim card from ebay - £1.50 - NOT from O2 direct online at £9.99. Load £30 on and you get 200 free mins to the Philippines. And then transfer the £30 to Planettalk for 6p per minute voice calls too (or 8p with a freephone number). Planettalk will even give you a £5 free on your first go. O2 give you 10% on first use on your Sim, then throw it away and use another for your next £30 top up etc, another 200 mins, 10% and free £5 planettalk
With Orange, i get £25 per month bonus talk which I use one of those 07744 numbers at 20p per min, but how else can you use the bonus talk? May as well use it.
I have a question though. I'm off to France for a while soon. How can I make cheap calls from there to my friend in the Philippines? I am at a loss as to how to do this one?
Thanks
Josh
You seem to have had better luck with planettalk. I just gave up, as it never worked for me.
I've been tending to use the 0871 number on pinoycards.co.uk. 10p a minute from my landline to her mobile...It works very well.![]()
I do suggest you to use this access number 08715525706 , there's no account to open..and you'll simply be billed by BT (if you're using BT service) on the 0871 access. It's 8p/ minute though, but I can easily connect and and quality is really good. No minutes wasted ! I've never encountered any problem with this service.

If you wish to call using pin numbers without buying a calling card, just use your mobile and text this keyword WETALK to 80041 for a £3 call credit, or text WETALK to 80550 for a £5 call credit. This credit amount will be taken from your mobile top-up balance or if you're prepaid account, it will be billed by your mobile provider. Access number will be sent to you by text after sending the said keyword. The charge is still 8p / minute for the access number.
I tried many cheaper services before, like 6-7p/minute but it was all wasted, and this one really works well.
I hope this helps.
I use Discount Dial when at home for calling mobiles, as other have said, on 0871 772 7171. Works fine most of the time, very clear connection at 7p per minute. When away from home I use a Lebara sim card at 10p per min for calls to either landlines or cell phones.
For calling Philippine landlines from home I use my Orange Livebox, which is a wireless router with an additional Voip phone line. For £20 per month I get my broadband connection, spread on a network to 6 Pcs at home and in my business, plus free calls to landlines all over the UK and to many other countries, including the Philippines.
My friend calls me using Onesuite prepaid long distance service, its based in the U.S. but can be use around the globe as a phone card and voip service.
