For us Brits who have never expereinced a Phill Easter.
Would any of those in Phill or from Phill like to explain the diffence.
I mean why don't you celebrate by going to a Diy Superstore or three and perform DIY tasks around the house
I am experiencing my first Phil. Easter at the moment.
It's brill!!! Went to Dumaguete City today and the roads were EMPTY!!!!
Even managed to get my motor bike into 3RD GEAR!!!!!!
Passed on the balut though - mussels and chips for dinner........Welllll!!!!!

Had Easter in Palawan last year, Ligaya's church JIL is pretty lively at any time but the various Easter services were even more energetic and deeply felt. I am not hugely spiritual but there is a sense of something special going on and yes there is a lot of eating and socialising. We brought several family members over and the house was buzzing. I am stuck here in our ofice in Birmingham today and it snowed earlier, waaahhh

As Easter for most of us is just a four day holiday where we might put up the shelves and also have a few days with family and friends.
Just on the Phone i can feel the vibe from various members of the wifes family and last year remeber the bulid up and the way people looked forward in the bulid up to holy week.

It's nice Easter in Phils. and when I was a small (still small lol) any way I was wishing to find an easter egg as it has a prices but I coudn't find even one.Now that I got married I don't bother I've found two and it's worth worth..... he he he. well I'm not gonna mention that you what I mean ladies.
Just left on Good Friday (today) and the streets are empty around MNL....
Last night i was on a lash and i saw lots of people praying / moving in mass / many people carrying the cross with fake blood...
Very strange but good..
Holy thursday and Good friday are considered as bank holidays in the phils. Catholics don't eat pork meat on fridays ... so no lechon on this day! Some people crucify themselves on a cross and some go walking in the streets bearing the cross. Others whip themselves on the back with some sort of stick until they turn bloody. On black sturday, you'll find most people in the beach celebrating and having a feast. Some people go during early hours in the morning to save themselves a spot as it gets really crowded. After that day, the ocean gets so polluted which i really dislike on this holiday period. There's just no respect for mother nature! On sunday, i think this is considered as a rest day for most people anyway. As a non-Catholic, I enjoy this period with friends who appreciates easter.
As for me, here in the UK. I worked today (Good Friday), working a 16-hr night shift from saturday pm to sunday am and then back on monday on lates! When will i have a break???? Soon i hope!
