watch out if you use your broadband to watch tv, if you do not have a true 'unlimited' account (usually £20+ a month) your download gb limit will be eaten up quickly and you could be capped or charged
Hi,
Try googling "pinoy minimall" - its an online Filipino store run by a Filipino and her English husband (Emie & Mark).
Picture quality is pretty good - like watching VHS tapes.
The real bonus is the ammount of programs they have avialable , as I said there must be litearly thousands of hours viewing per week
Also I use o2 broadband - unlimited use and 8Meg Download speed for £7.50 per month , this includes a free WiFi router , so no nasty cables to try and hide !!!
yes i saw martin lewis (moneysaving expert) the other day saying o2 were the cheapest.
still don't forget to include your line rental
part of o2's fair usage policy
"But if you’re using the service excessively – like continually downloading large files at peak times – then we do reserve the right to warn you to lower your usage. In exceptional circumstances, we can even terminate your account.
This is because excessive use by a few people can reduce the speed that other customers in the same area can get. We just want to provide everyone with an excellent level of service."
well i don't know if they do cap you. but for the price, you cant complain..
most have similar fair usage policy, but some do enforce them tiscali , but other don't bulldog
price is good, as i've got a o2 pay n go mobile..
well they said they will warn you, so maybe don't watch it at peak hours if you do get warned, but then thats the time you want to watch it from 6pm til 9 or 10pm
I think its a case of suck it and see.. , you've got nothing to lose untill they try and cap you (if infact they would)
Yep my wife's the same - we try to turn off TFCKo at 5.00pm when I get home , and watch UK TV together .
Great thing about TFCKo is she cant use the excuse "but my favourite program starts in 5 minutes etc" coz she can watch it next day at her leisure - Oh and no adverts , so her 1/2 programs only last 20 minutes.
Where in the UK are you Briank ?
another tihng o2 use Traffic Shaping.
A trick used by all cheaper providers; during peak times or heavy traffic they may cut the speed of your connection. It will be especially noticeable if you’re using peer to peer software (e.g. sharing music files) as this type of traffic gets the least priority. Again for the average user it shouldn’t be a problem but for heavy downloaders it’s worth taking into consideration.
Glasgow - still trying to find more friends for my wife around here
try this site, http://www.pinoychannel.tv/ .......... enjoy watching!
veoh
have to download there viewerto view longer than 5 minutes footage

Well, streaming from the internet can be pretty cac, especially when contention rates are high.
The ISP's would have us believe that our broadband is a dedicated resource, but the fact is, that it is a shared resource, and when the kids get home from school is poss that everything can slow up when they all connect to the internet!!
By the way, I am a satellite TV/Cable TV specialist and please feel free to ask any advice.
Streaming from the internet to your TV is by far the most cheapest option of course, although no where near the quality of satellite.
I have a High Definition Motorised system here. and i'ts awesome, although a pain to configure it all
If you have someone in the phils with a subscription, you can consider installing what is known as a slingbox.
Do a google search using that keyword for more info!
This little unit connects to the Scart socket of the set top box in the given country, then it can be connected to their broadband connection, and you can then downstream it to your PC/TV
It even gives you remote control capability.
I just set a system up for a German chap.
Ooopssss hehehh.
Here I go on again, but pls ask me anything u like if i can help.
Best of luck.
Philip......
Roll on Jan for my trip to Cebu, coz i miss her soooooo very much, lol
Like i said we all record this or that, now and then.
But its just the sheer scale of the practise. which is going to have far and wide spread implications for the future which is the issue for me.
I.e people got greedy and now dont realise thats its not fair to record a whole back catalogue of someones work.
If the phill channel which broadcast the show made it possible for the missus to subscribe or pay for a decent quality picture she would.
But if a Phill tv exec wants to sue then i'll ask them to decalre all that they own is puka no boot legs or copies. possibly even the parts in there car would be bootleg wheter they like it or not so would be on iffy ground.
Hmmmmm, yes i can believe that, especially coz is not a worldwide standard.
My place in Peru SA uses BNC/Phonos.
Ok, Scart is only a connectivity standard, and Slingbox doesn't need a Scart.
Like I said, my offer for any technical helps stands.
I need to see what they use in the phils when I go to see my intended future wife in Cebu, lol
do you need a decoder card for the atlantic bird signal?
i have subscribed to TFC since they started here in Europe, i thoroughly enjoy it! the picture quality is good not much disruptions although ocassionally we get no cieo audio signal when theres a storm brewing but it does not last long. we got the box free and now we only pay £17/month. for any of you wanting to get it, its truly worth getting, i dont get so homesick now. only problem is my but is always stuck on the settee when my teleseryes on

So has anyone got the GMA Satalite service.
The missus is looking into it at the moment. But 20 quid a month for two channels and a few radio sations seems a bit steep.
Whats the quality like and line up of show?
