Theorethically and practically you would be entitled to apply for both..... Free of charge for the ILR, not sure about the citizenship.
But we thought that if Jet ever decides to get a new citizenship it will be dual with Italian....Would save a lot of hassle in future....
Eh, yeah....... It is a hard life being a foreigner in the UK but someone has to pay taxes.... To allow some of the indigenous population to keep paying for their Sky subscriptions while signing on the dole...
On reflection....it is a very little return for 34 years of hard work... But better than nothing at all....

Eljono,
Coming from NI may be you can help with this.
I am just about to apply for Spouse visa for my wife and daughter.
Now i was born in NI and have lived there most of my life, however i have been in London for over 10 years and hold a British Passport not an Irish one.
My mother is from Dublin and two of my brothers hold Irish passports.
Should i spend all this money on spuse visa's or should i go the family permit route, can i even apply for it??? having already got a British Passport.
Any ideas

The more tax payers that actually get something back the better
If your mum is born in Dublin and your brothers have a passport i would think its no major prob to get a paddy passport.
I think it goes back to grandparents when my mum researched this and her gran was born in Ireland so if i could wind the clock back i could have saved over a grand![]()
