Actually i am not sure if you have to be living in N.Ireland or just being born here is enough but if you can go the Irish Family Permit way then i think you should to save a lot of money but please do as much homework as possible because my info is from a friend whos wife is going through it and she has just got a 5 year visa but it seems much cheaper and easier.
I agree phone the Irish Embassy to be 100% sure!!
