my family and i have been here in the UK (Belfast) for a month...i am on a family visa (eea family permit) my husband is from the Netherlands..
i am planning to apply for a job but i can't with my visa, so i need to have my NI number, yet i haven't apply for a longer stay....
which comes first...applying for my FLR or NI number..??

I asked a person who worked in HR at a big uni and she said for certain professions they can apply on behalf of visting lecturers and the like but for everyday admin staff for example they have to apply themselves.
Some big employers like the NHS can apply on behalf of workers.
She actual rang up a contact at the local job centre for the latest info on my behalf. This was a year or so, so may have changed yet again just to confuse us all
As at the time the Wife needed to know.
The guy that employed Jet said that he was going to apply on her behalf.
She has a temporary one at the moment (from wages slip), with the 2 letters at the front missing....
I guess it depends on the area.
In london the system we had to use was different to others on here applying at the same time who simply poped into the local job centre.
I guess its due to the different populations and no simple easy to follow system for people as usual. The system actually changed while we were applying as with visas and everything else.
Way to many people in this country employed just to keep thinking up different policies
Im sure they will look in to a way to charge for it.
