Spouse Visa for UK

Hi! I am a filipino national married to a british woman. Having us both working at sea for several years I am returning to Manila soon to process my spouse visa. Has anyone any experience & success at applying? We understand the british embassy can be quite tough and so we are looking for any advice! Many thanks Cesar & Julie
