My wife has just arrived a few weeks in the UK and one of the first things that she did was make an appointment to get a National Insurance Number. Before they would let her apply for one she needed proof that she was looking for work from 2 Job Agencies. After signing up for 2 Agencies and getting a letter to prove she had, she then left the letters in with the guy who sorts out the N.I.N. She will wait for 2 months for one but meantime she has been able to get some work with one of the agencies.
