    Spouse Visa

Good day! I have a question on the application of spouse visa. What are the reasons that a spouse visa application has been refused?

I will soon be applying for a spouse visa this year. Wedding on September, possibly lodge application before December. I dont want to go wrong on the application as the fees are getting expensive.

    thank you.

so far with what ive heard its quite rare for a spousal visa to be refused.
but one thing they really look at is if he can really support you there.. like if he has a job, house etc

    Petes advice:

Number 1 reason for spouse visa refusal.

= Husband bank statement in the Red

just what boss peter says 1st reason for refusal is husband's bank statement=red so as what they say here keep a healthy bank statement for six months prior to application and possibly 2-3K pounds of savings.
keep reading kismet, many threads here discussing bout spouse visa.
ur questions will be answered just keep searching and reading.
    best wishes and good luck

some stats, but not for those applying for a spouse visa, but those applying for ILR, from 2006

    ILR Grant/Refusal breakdown Totals
    Granted 76,655
    Refused 5,285
    Other 13,450
    Total 95,390

    and

    Settlement refusal Spouse*
    - Refusal Marriage/relationship terminated or no
    intention to live together 300

    -Refusal despite domestic violence 220

Settlement refusal other than husband or wives
    - Refusal no extension granted

    Hi Joe,
What is the exact wording of the rule, is it no sooner than 28 days before you've been in the UK for 2 years, i.e. the date of the entry stamp on your passport, or is it no sooner than 28 days before the date on your visa sticker?

    Cheers,
    Iain.

My fiance has both a job and house but the big problem will be the bank statement. As the wedding will be this September, most of the money he is saving up will go to that event. We do need to produce proof that he can support me. With a not so healthy bank statement by the time we lodge the application, i am afraid that we might not get approved.

He did plan to get a loan. Is it a good way to make the bank statement look good?

we also have another option: get a fiancee visa instead, have a civil wedding in the UK and we save up for the church wedding in the Philippines.

That is a problem; there is no guidance I have seen that advises you on how much you need to have in the bank to satisfy their requirements

It might work if you take it out a few months in advance but of course that will create further financial strain as you seek to repay it.

Your bf fiance will still need to demonstrate that he can support you but this option could allow him to show the money that he would use for the Philippines wedding in the bank.
    Good luck!

    Toks

my hubby doesn't have big savings also, tho it shows surplus from his salary. Taking into consideration that most of his savings were used in his frequent visits here, have visited me 5 times already within 22 months, also, money used in wedding and honeymoon expenses.

do you think this can explain why savings is not big enough? and will ECO consider such explaination?
