Getting married

Hi there, off to the Philippines in afew days to get married
i have my UK CIN and i'm going for 4 weeks, so i thought i had everything planned till somebody in the GF's family said he needs a singleness certificate just like i do and this takes 3 weeks... is this true?
I was under the impression that it was only me that needed it, i thought the only documents she needed was her birth certificate ?

yup, she needs it we call it CENOMAR , she could get it fast if she uses an agency to process it but you have to pay more than its regular fee.

If you use an agency are you better off just using the same "fee" when you go for the marriage licence?

is it a church wedding or civil ( registrar)?

dont think so, coz you can get cenomar at NSO while marirage lic at the registrar office. but i know agency could process all this and you just pay at once as the agency required you.

yes, she could considering the limited time before the big day that you need it to be done asap.

i dont know this days...but way back last 2006 it was about 10k in pesos they will do all the paper work all you have to do just relax and wait lol!

She is in San Fernando but we are getting married in San Antonio

Worth also asking the Wife to be, to obtain NBI clearance if possible either before or after wedding. The Wife got her cert and some other local banagary paperwork which we put in the visa application.
Nbi clearance is like the crimnal record check here in the Uk and says basically that she is not a mass murderer.

andypaul - thank you so much about the heads up on the NBI clearance, I have just sent a note to my wife to try and get one so that she will have something to show to any potential employer requesting a criminal background check.

have a look on that website to see the nearest office to ur gf,maybe if she goes there and will get a copy quicker its only 450 peso for the singleness 15 peso for stamp but its says it takes upto 9 days after payment and upto 6 days to post,but as i said it only took a week for my gf to get hers.

do u have the time to wait that long as u may need when u get the marriage license?

if ur gf knows someone on the city registrar where your marriage will take place or nso it will be easy and quick to get a Cenomar and marriage license.

10k doesn't cost u that much its just less than 600 if u just get online or go by yourself on NSO-EDSA

when I got my CENOMAR last September 2007 it only cost me 175.00(pesos)..ur gf can also apply online, I mean they will deliver it to her house but it might take few more days and cost around 400 pesos compared from getting it personally..
