You may get an extension on compassionate grounds, but he does need to be charged, and you need to ensure he gets done, stop piddling about with this violent abuser.

Further to what Admin recommended for you to do, I would strongly advise you to visit your nearest Citizen Advice Bureau, in view of looking for help in getting a court injunction against your husband.
You should be entitled to Legal Aid, and will have no problems if the court Order is granted, as he will not be able to come anywhere near you in future, and you might also be able to stay in the house you shared.
