Switch from student visa to IGS visa, please help...

I hold a student visa expires in June 2009, but I don't want to continue my current study any more and want to switch to the IGS visa in December 2008 so that I could start full time job. I have got my master degree in UK in January 2008. Could I apply in December 2008 to switch to the IGS visa (or the tier 1 post study visa)?
