    Gifts for a Filipino family

    Hi
I was wondering what would be useful gifts to take back to my GF's family on her small island.
She has her mother and father and 5 silblings ranging from 4 to 20 years of age.
I was looking at the selection of things that the local people can buy at the sari-sari store and it is small.
Lots of things have crossed my mind, please bear in mind that electricity is not on often there.
    Any ideas? and thanks.

    choclates

decent ones, maybe liqueurs for the older folk, nothing better, give them something they can eat and get drunk at the same time

for the youngsters, ask your wife, but probably brats dolls for the young gals, and ben 10 toys for the young boys

for the older ones, mp3 player, or a nice watch (see scousers kieth ebay store !! )

As most people will attest, UK chocolates are the number 1 most desired item. From personal experience a bottle of Barcadi nicely wrapped goes down well.
Be responsible with little so that you can be trusted with much!!

    Glaxy chocolates?

    choclates?

Is everyone drunk on here today? Or is correct spelling optional?

Bring a fridge to put in your suitcase so that the chocolate does not melt

I would not go over the top with the gifts as maybe they will think you are loaded with money

Head to argos were you can get suitable gifts.

Don't spend too much on gifts (maybe don't flash too much cash either). Simple things that the family can share will be alright (nobody will get jealous who gets the most). Maybe a sack of rice and a family dinner when you get there will be much appreciated..just a thought

What about a carabao? that would be useful if the road way there is muddy.
