How much usually would it cost you for a solicitor to certify your passport? My husband enquired with a solicitor and he was told that it would cost him 100 pounds. Is that the usual price for certifying a document by a solicitor?

I am in the wrong business WOW £100,, Is it not just a stamp and signature,, Ive still to get mine done does it have to be done by a lawyer ?
damn! i think i might get mine done in India if i can as it must be cheaper...
he should be able to find one that charges £2-£3 an A4 photocopy, which would have 2 pages of his passport on. you dont need the blank pages copied, so depending on how much of his passport has been used...
but it cost me less than £30 18 months ago
£100 sounds about the correct amount if you are wanting to use the services of a solicitor who is a Notary Public to certificate a document here in the UK.
In 2006 I needed my passport certifying as true and was charged £82 (incl VAT). I spent
eight minutes with the solicitor whose secretary photocopied the passport. A seal was then attached to the copy and he signed the document in his capacity as Notary Public.
I told the solicitor that I had had difficulty in finding a Notary Public and he replied that the younger generation of legal profesionals were not interested in offering services with little financial reward to which I could not help but think he was taking the p**s.
When billed for this I was advised that this was the rate advised by the Law Society. As I left the building I thought to myself what a robbing b*s***d.
If you are going to to the Philippines and need your document certifying for use over there then visit a Notary Public at Manila City hall or surrounding area. You see Notary Publics advertising signs all over and I am sure you will not be charged over PHP 500 to have a document certified as true.
He just inquire ...right ? try find another one my hubby said it was not that expensive ---
just called my lawyer. ..he certify mine for nothing ,,fantastic
yeah, I was surprised too! He got a lawyer friend, my hubby wants to ask you guys if his lawyer friend could certify the copies of his passport??? 100 pounds is toooo much!
each page i had copied, was signed by a solicitor and stamped with the name of the solicitors and their address..
when my husband sent his photo copied passport it was not certified by the solicitor and my visa was granted. I think photo copy is alright, important is that all the documents from your husband like his payslips, bank statements, etc. should be original.
from the british embassy website in Manila

and
from BIA website in the UK, http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoap...swivespartners
What supporting documents should I include with my application?
You should include all the documents you can to show that you qualify for entry as a husband, wife, civil partner, fiancé, fiancée, proposed civil partner, or unmarried or same-sex partner. If you do not, we may refuse your application.
As a guide, you should include the following:
...
Evidence that your sponsor is settled in the UK. (This can be a copy of their passport or registration certificate that has been confirmed as a true copy, in other words 'certified').
just becuase your husband didn't use certified copies and you got your visa, doesn't mean everyone will, most case workers know and follow the rules, some obviously don’t
many visa apps are refused becuase incorrect evidence is sent or not sent , so if you want to make sure your visa app is not refused, know what your suppose to send and make sure you do
