    Council motoring fines 'illegal'

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7424955.stm

We complain about corruption in other countries? These Councillors are nothing but thieving scumbags. If any of use took £100,000 off the council, that would be fraud, and you'd bet we'd be locked up longer than a drunk driver who ran over and killed 4 kids.

This shows what is wrong with this country, if those in charge are free to break the law, then why should the rest of us bother with it?

Never mind central government 'asking' them to give it back, central government should have them all done for fraud, sacked, and pensions taken away.

talk about 1984, councils seem to have more powers than the police and the gov, they can fine you for dropping litter, putting your bin out on the wrong day, not closing the lid, not put rubbish in the correct bin, fine you for parking in the wrong place, now one council wants to charge people for having a parking space at work

    its madness,

and they are refusing to pay back the illegal fines, becuase people have paid them, and so they have accepted the fine

and i can't do , when they don't come and empty the bins when they are suppose to, i want to fine them £300 each time, why not, if they can fine me, i should be able to fine them

more reason to leave this country..

Surely this is something the Serious Fraud Office should look into? Problem is, they won't do anything until they recieve an 'Official Complaint'. So what the is one of them?

I'd have thought that with 100's, probably 1000's of off-duty police being 'ROBBED', they'd jump at the chance at 'doing' councils over.

The problem is, people in this country now just put up with it, and let these walk all over them. I've never let anyone get away with something if they've done wrong.

Isn't it about time we all stood up for ourselves and say enough is enough? So get your pen & paper out and right to the SFO, MP, Mr Brown , and Uncle Tom Cobbly if need be.

They say that if you have paid the fine then you have admitted your guilt.

You cannot be guilty of something that is in the first instance illegal.

I agree, but thats the argument they're putting forward to justify not repaying the fines.

Makes sense to me, imagine how much the council tax might have to rise if the council was having to pay out loads of compo to the injured binmen.

That's not a bad idea. It p***es me off when these clowns can act with impunity and yet they will not hesitate to come down heavy-handed when they can. Their attitude seems to be that people are there to serve the government, not the other way around as it is supposed to be.

lets just say that the Parking services department in at least one London Council has some of the best investment compared to just about every other department they have.
kind of says to me where the money is
