Joe, I wasnt able to apply before because we waited for my FLR and since its ok now and hubby cannot send me everytime to my work because he also have his own job so we decided that I need to get one and I dont have an international license..

Ive looked on the DVLA website and it stated there I need to pay £50 and provide proofs of address for at least three years so I also need to provide docs from my address in the PHils. since I am only been here for almost 6 months?

oh i think worse than that, you need someone to sign it, a prof, etc.. saying they have known you for 2yrs ??? and they cannot be family/friend etc..

whats why you need to do what i said in my previous post. take your passport, but they send it away...

give them a call kimmi incase its changed, but i'm sure its still the same..

no you cannot use a friend, as they have to have known you for at least 2 yrs in the uk, and you've only been here 6 months and you cannot use friends

yes you can drive for upto 1 yr on an international license here , as long as you have the correct car insurance.

but you must pass your uk test within that year or stop driving, driving with an invalid license , without car insurance can get the car crushed, you banned from driving, and worse if it goes to court, there is a small chance it could effect your future app for FLR/ILR or citizenship

so don't drive without a license or drive past a year on a international license..

also if you do have a int license, start to study for your theroy test and take driving lessons asap , as it might take you a year to pass your uk one

get an international license in the phils, it's pretty easy..

you need to apply for a student license first in the phils, after a month, you can apply for a non professional driving license, and take a theory test, eye test, wee test ..

then when you have your non pro license you can apply for a international license ..

i hope i got this right, but its worth doing, as you will be able to drive for a whole year, and will make taking your test easier here

    Hello kimmi,
You better be quick to apply for your provisional licence, pass theory test and practical as well. Starting next month there will be additional 5 or i think more show me and tell me questions examiners ask during practical test.

Good luck but heres' a warning; never let your husband teach you to drive.....

I've passed my Theory test & Hazard Perception two months ago. Theory test is very easy (I got 50/50 - pass mark is 43) but the HP is a bit tricky (I got 44/70 - pass mark is 44). There are few free test on the internet you can practise. If you failed either of these test, you'll have to pay and take the exam again, so you must passed the both test.
Not an expert, I only try to help.

May I refer you to Automotive Association of the Philippines (AAP) located at 683 Aurora Blvd., QC with tel. no. (02) 723-08-08 for more details.

    OT:
This thread certainly makes me feel wanting of driving regularly again just like the old days. Started driving when I was 18 but seldom drive now. Sold my old rustic car before making the big move of living and working here in Baguio City. I usually take public jeepney now and enjoying the bumpy ride.

    Good luck Ms.Kimmi

If you in the UK less than 2 years the DVLA can sign your Photo unless you know a person in a postion stated who knew you in phill or somehow i guess.

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring...ence/DG_078281

this is mentioned at the bottom

Your nearest DVLA local office staff can help if you have no one to sign your photo, if you have become a resident or returned to the UK within the last two years. They'll sign your photo and complete section seven of the application form.
Your application and original identity documents are then sent to DVLA Swansea for further authentication

As I told the missus, you'd all better hurry up as the driving test is about to get much harder later this year.

not checked andy, but the person who signs it must be a citizen, as they do random checks on those you give references, and also they must have known you 2 yrs..

and like i said, they will probably send your passport off with your app..

tell me about it, 7th time lucky, while taking her test, some cut her up, nearly crashing, the misses was pretty shaken up, not my misses fault, driving examiner asked if she wanted to carry on or stop the test , misses said no way, knees shaking.. carried on, misses was sure she failed and she passed

the other 6 times, stupid reasons why she failed, i'm sure many times its was becuase the examiner was in a bad mood and wouldn't have bothered to give a major mark.

but good luck.. you just have to keep trying..

it nearly cost me as much as i had to pay for visas

you mean your visa's for your misses didn't cost you £3000

err, in total i would have thought it cost about £1,700 for the tests and driving lessons,, half what i paid for visas a bargin

but the same amount of stress as the visa process
