National Insurance Evidence...?

Hi guys! (and girls ) I'll be taking my filipina extraordinaire wife Vimvie to Tooting on 21st of this month, she must attend an interview + provide evidence she is seeking work in order to get her National Insurance number....... Getting evidence has turned out to be surprisingly hard!! Nobody sends application forms in the post no more!! It's all "You must apply online!! You must apply online!!" ......We've tried all the obvious companies like B&Q, Macdonalds, Sainsbury's, Royal Mail etc...but they all say apply online! Are people printing emails and using that as evidence or something? I don't think they'll accept that as evidence will they? I thought Vimvie can't work until after she got her National Insurance number, but I've since learnt that's not quite right, so I guess there's no real panic! But what are your thoughts on this?

When I applied for my National Insurance Number, I just brought my Passport, Marriage Certificate and copies of emails from the companies Ive applied and the interview went well..

Ive known somebody who is not working but manage to have a National Insurance number also, I think they call it voluntary contribution something..

Dont worry Vimvie will surely get her N.I. no problem..

you dont need to work to get N I just take her pasport with you and wait around 5 weeks for it to come by post looks like a bank card

yes i'm sure you don't need a NI number to start work, you need to apply for an NI number as soon as possible thou when you have started, You will need to quote your NI number to your employer's accounts department for taxation purposes.

In order to apply for the number you will need documentation to do with employment (such as a contract or letter from your employer), so it is easier to apply once you have secured employment. If you have not yet secured employment, you can still apply, however certain documents will be required (such as job rejection letters, letters from your recruitment agent etc).
