He's under contract for a start , one which he agreed to for a large amount of money. If he really wanted to go then he would be going, as money talks, and you only have to look at Beckham & Van Nistleroy to see that Alex kicks them out without a second thought regardless of how big they think they are.
Ronaldo has had time to think after a Euro 2008, and would have decided to stay of his own accord.
