When I have advised filipinas to give up on a relationship, the usual response is: "But I really do love him". I fail to see how anyone can be so committed to another person before they have actually met in person.
In my case, I was pretty certain that Ruby and I had a good basis for a relationship, but neither of us was prepared to make a commitment before my first visit.
