It's like a blizzard outside here in Kent! Also had some thunder & lightning which is very strange! I was just about to reply earlier when there was a flash which turned my PC off! Was just starting it up again when there was another one which did the same so thought I'd better turn it off.

Then had problems getting on the Internet on my phone. The signal symbols on my phone are usually no service, E, a blue dot or 3G. It was showing E when it wouldn't connect, but is now showing a 'beam' fan shape symbol that I've never seen before!

The salt is to melt the snow and stop it turning to ice which of course can cause accidents

I do wish the muppet public when they keep moaning about the councils for not salting the roads would do a bit of research. The salt is to prevent solid ice from forming, if you get a heavy snowfall it will do little until.

The more snow on top, the lower the temperature below, the slower salt works anyway, but unless the frozen water is in direct contact with the salt it will not work, and snow is full of air so little of it touches the salt.

Looked out last night and we had a good covering for London and this morning no more thicker than then. More like 10mm not quite the 10cm's the media were banging on about yesterday
Oh lord why did you make so many clothes and shoe shops

if it comes, i would definitely be all giddy as well, but i would most likely wish it to disappear too, after a while, lol

Why do they use salt to melt ice on the road in the winter?

Oh my ... ! The sky suddenly turned a heavy grey ... followed by a raging blizzard ... an hour or so ago, up here in Perth.

We're "dog-sitting" for our neighbour this weekend. 'Stitch' is a small breed of West Highland terrier. He's an off-white colour and, to be honest, I'm afraid to let him venture out to the garden for his business lest he should metamorphose into an effing snowball!

Ahh, cute! When I still lived with my parents, we looked after a friends Cairn Terrier (looks like a Westie, but has varying colours from light cream to dark brown) a lot over the years as she was in & out of hosptial a lot. He was a great little character and I still think of him quite often. Here's a couple of pics of him:
