Seems we have lost another great British character. :(

Feels like he's been around forever, educating us with his gushing enthusiasm.

RIP sir.

Seems we have lost another great British character. :(

Renowned astronomer and stargazer ... he had the foresight to support - and later became patron of - the 'UK Independence Party'. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

:olddude: ...indeed ... he even featured prominently on television in MY childhood!

RIP sir.

:NoNo: ... not according to Wikipedia.

It would seem appropriate. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

:gp: ... but, apparently, he requested "a quiet interment", without fuss.

I think his was one of the first TV programmes in the 1950s Arthur...although I didn't even know what a TV was until I was 7 years old....because we were living in Malaya and there was no such thing there in those days. :icon_lol:

A bit of an eccentric though he brought astronomy into our living rooms. The world needs eccentrics like Patrick Moore. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Very true. A true gentleman who made us all a little more interested in The Sky at Night. RIP

He also wrote music and could play the xylophone to a good standard.
