lol cant argue with that ,...5.71?? bargain!!
make sure that the ''pay'' for the labor is just half of what your pay for materials:wink::xxgrinning--00xx3:

nope gonna be a roof sloping down which will keep the sun from hitting the front of the house .i,m extending all the way round front side and rear because its cheaper to buy a small house and then double its size yourself .more pictures will follow as work progresses.

Tiger.. Im just a tad confused.:icon_lol:
Which building is which? I m assuming that the units painted different colours are separate or are they all yours?
What is the roof made of at the moment and what size rebar is that?
Looks like 8mm.. Should be at least 12mm IMO.. BTW thats not a criticism and I may well be wrong!!
571.00 a day seems an odd wage request.. Normally its 200.00,350.00, 550.00 or 600.00!!
But 571? :Erm:
Onli in di Pilipins eh!!
Good luck with the build BTW!!
Cheers,
Fred.

You'd better teach them what a spirit-level is!
They use a far more accurate tool than a spirit level.. Same principle, just far more accurate..
They call it a "Level hose"..
Its basically a long clear plastic tube almost full of water.

400 pesos a day divided by 70 pesos to the pound at the current exchange rate = 5.71 a day .The beige and red building its actually a semi detached 2 bed bungalow .I am adding another bedroom covering over the driveway to the side and extending the kitchen .The roof is just the usual tin stuff I believe but never been up on the roof .I looked at another extension on someone elses house which is the same as mine and really liked the layout so i,m using the same builder for mine .The misus wants to use the place for an income so the front will be used for 8 computers as a small internet cafe and to the side she wants a store and more computers to the side .I will place more pictures as it progresses its kinda hard to visualise it at the moment .The total cost of all the work and labour will be around 200,000 pesos for what they will be doing to the place I consider it a bargain.not sure what size of rebar it is but because its only single level i,m not really bothered it looks strong enough for me .

Looking good Tiger!!
What about your A/C exhaust? Stays where it is? hi fred after you asked me the question about the water run off from the A.C I had a look and racked ma brains lol and what ive decided is that I will run a pipe chiselled into the wall down under the AC and burried under the concrete along the floor through the wall and an elbow attached so that it drips away from the outside wall but a few inches off the wall onto the street as I will be tiling the inside walls and floor so you wont see any ugly pipes on the inside .i,ll attached a tiny funnel just under the AC leading into the hidden pipe job done .

Just a thought, but couldn't you extend the a/c pipework and mount the condenser unit on the new roof :Erm: well that was a possibility but the work is almost complete burying the pipe so when all the tiling is done there will be no un sightly tubes running all over the place .

Not trying to change your mind but.........
Doesn't the condenser blow out the hot air, and therefore you're going to have a room full of hot air, maybe worth rethinking before you possibly turn it into an internet room with more electrical equipment making it more like a sauna.

no we have curtains up to keep direct sunlight off the units .we only charge 10 pesos an hour .so we are looking at 800 pesos a day if fully occupied its not much ,but we will add another 20 units once extension to the side of house is complete .not many job opportunities around here so any income is better than none.its more of a hobby than an income really so that the g.f has something to do all day.I bring in enough to live in comfort so this is just an add on.

I don,t know the final cost yet I,m just doing it as funds come in. Basically I am doubling the floor space and a wee bit more. There will be a store in front, a computer room in the middle and extended kitchen and laundry area at the back. Upstairs another 2 bedrooms and en suite.

Can you explain the use of a "dirty kitchen" I have an idea of it being an outdoor BBQ area is that right?

yes mick basically nearly every philippine household has one its usually used for doing washing ,cleaning veg ,and grilling on the bbq etc all the dirty stuff thats how I guess it gets its name .we are going to use this room for the time being until the main kitchen diner is finished .I will post more pictures once its been painted up and cabinets installed ,as I said this will be our temp kitchen for now as my place is like a bomb site at the moment lol.The grill on the window will now be takin off as that is a bedroom which was on the outside of the house .I hate window grills but you have to have them as a precauction here as you know lots of sticky fingered yobs about .my house is occupied 24/7 so they would be wasting there time ,plus I have a chihuahua on patrol and nothing gets past her hahaha

Thanks for the explanation, in my small flat, I am lucky to even have a separate kitchen, many here have a corner of the main room!
In years past they could have been called the "outhouse" here :cwm3:
It is interesting to follow your progress on your home and business

thanks mick its a slow progress as i,m only using my pension as it comes in so no debt, plus I need to come back soon to get ma shoulders looked at .The internet cafe is now bringing in around 7 to 8 hundred dollars a month ,not a fortune but it eases the pressure on my pension which can be put into the house.it keeps her indoors busy lol

hi fred after you asked me the question about the water run off from the A.C I had a look and racked ma brains lol and what ive decided is that I will run a pipe chiselled into the wall down under the AC and burried under the concrete along the floor through the wall and an elbow attached so that it drips away from the outside wall but a few inches off the wall onto the street as I will be tiling the inside walls and floor so you wont see any ugly pipes on the inside .i,ll attached a tiny funnel just under the AC leading into the hidden pipe job done .
Yeah Tiger...I was referring to the exhaust.. Not the water run off!!:icon_lol:
Your funny!!

I see you have used steel deck Tiger...Not sure if it's more expensive overall but definitely a lot faster..
From seeing the rebar continuing upwards, does that mean you are going up a second floor or is that just a roof deck?
You certainly don't do things by halves do you!! :icon_lol:

Lol yes Fred, I,m going up one more floor, the front will be the master bedroom with balcony and 2 further bedrooms and bathroom. The roof will slant backwards like the original house to blend in. Well, that,s the idea, lol
