I think it's because people who come to UK with spouse visa have no need to apply for FLR they just need to apply for ILR for which they need to be resident in UK for 2 years which is why they have to travel soon enough to have been in the country long enough to qualify.Originally Posted by amyburple

I wouldn't claim to be 100% certain of that but that's certainly my understanding of the situation. Maybe someone else can confirm that is correct.
