yes HK can be expensive especially rent but londonand as for the tube versus MTR no contest the MTR is incredibly cheap (less than £1.OO acrooss the length of the island line, ALWAYS runs on time, always spotless and is easy to follow on the illuminated on train system maps.

Yeah,property rental in HK is a tad steepwhen I left in '97 one of my mates was paying the equivalent of £3,500 for a huge apartment,that wasnt to buy it,that was the monthly rental

when I was corporate there my company were paying 35000HKD AT 13HK to 1GBP Ffor 1200 sq ft 3 bed in mid levels. Once a joined a company on a non ex pat contract I moved to Kennedy Town and still paid 20000HKD for 950 sq ft but at least in stand alone building on 52nd floor directly on harbour front.
Agreed the MRT in Manila can be scary at times
