    Post DOH warns about health risks during dry spell

    This summer, the public should watch out for a number of ?potential health risks? brought about by the onset of the dry spell caused by the El Niño phenomenon, the Department of Health (DoH) said on Tuesday.

    The Philippines Department of Health gives a long list of diseases and health risks said to result from hot and dry weather due to the El Nino phenomenon, ironic when we in the UK are suffering our coldest winter for many years, also blamed by some on El Nino !

    Curiously enough, Alan ... Myrna and I were discussing the El Nino phenomenon yesterday forenoon; indeed, she even suggested I might introduce a topic on it as, apparently, it's a climatic state with which Filipinos can readily identify.

    It is predicted that temperatures will be in the 40s (Centigrade) in April and May in Cebu. Unfortunately, I have forgotten where I read this!

    My flight is a week on Saturday - 6th March - will be back on British soil (snow?) early Sunday morning. I hope cardboard city has some vacancies!!
