I am a Filipino who married a Norwegian man in Hongkong last January. A week ago, I just found out that he is married to a Filipina last 2009 and the marriage was civil wedding here in the Philippines. He is single in Norway and we are preparing for papers for the registration of our marriage in Norway. Is our marriage in Hongkong void or not? Since he is married to another Filipina prior to my marriage in Hongkong. Can I be his legal wife in Norway or the first marriage will still counts? Please help me out on this matter.

I would guess that as he was married already from 2009 your wedding in Hongkong will not be valid. Why would you want to be his legal wife in Norway? The guy is obviously a complete crook and cant be trusted. IMHO if you go ahead and claim your married in Norway knowing full well he is already married then you will probably also be breaking the law, as he obviously is. Seek legal advice.

How can he be 'single' in Norway if he married abroad....anywhere ?

Surely the papers for the first marriage must have gone through the Norwegian Embassy and therefore the marriage registered in Norway...or am I missing something here ?

He was able to get the legal capacity to contract marriage. I am not even sure because his status in Norway is single. And he always insist that the marriage he had in the Philippines is void and was not registered in Norway.

Maybe it would be better to refer your partner to this site, as clearly he will have the full story of his relationships and marriages.

I don't know if there is a similar forum in Norway, where they may be able to help more, as this site really is about UK visas and laws...which in some cases are quite different from other EU member states.

why is his marrriage in the phils void? if his marriage in the phils was legally recognised then it will probably by recognised in Norway , almost certainly in HK and most of the world.

as far as law is unless he got a divorse from his 1st wife then he,s broken the law therefore your marrage is void hes a bigamist i cant see how you can legaly be his wife in norway or anywere else

Without knowledge of ALL the facts it just isn't possible to give an answer.

Based solely on the limited information you have divulged, then as others has said his first legal marriage stands. Your marriage with him is not valid.
Based on his first legal marriage, he is not legally single anywhere in the world. Including Norway.

Whatever you will make of the facts is your own decision. Please be careful.

To all Filipinos : Is there a way that I can check in NSO a marriage certificate for a person that is not blood-related to me? (can not find answers on the net) Just to really check if he is legally married in our country. I read somewhere in the net that if the marriage contract is not used in the next 120 days automatically it will be voided.

Perhaps that might not be a bad thing in the circumstances, because if it IS correctly registered then you would have to go through expensive and lengthy annulment processes should you need to get out of what is possibly a bigamous marriage anyway.

I think you (or your parents) need to ask this man some serious questions to find out exactly WHO you are supposed to be married to.

I think you can, if you know all the details of what you are looking for but why do that?...I should avoid this man if my marriage is void with him!!!...if he is married in the Philippines and married in HK he could also be married in any part of the world

How can u trust someone from the very start he lied already to u and now u wanted to be a legal wife At this point you are fed up, but the complicated part about it is, you love the man? Your heart is so emotionally driven for this man who does not seem to have a heart? Love urself first and look someone who deserves u.
