If its that bad where you live,why not get your self an inverter.. Hook it up to a charged battery and let it run your fans,TV,laptop etc.. You can plug 220v right into them..
You can buy them in places like CDR king.
Im not sure how long the battery lasts but you can hook it up to the battery in your car or motorbike and leave it running..
