    The only difference is that the poor can't avoid it.
    See if you work for Starbucks or Google or Amazon you have it deducted at source (PAYE). Whilst they then employ accountants to make sure they don't pay any tax on the fruits of your hard labour.
    I think Mr Google, Starbucks or Amazon was Man number 10 in Simons little story. So in my opinion deserved the kicking he got from the others

    Problem is, it's NOT the "Biblical Tithe" ... ... it's twenty percent of taxable income for the average worker in this country!
