Good....and about time too, IF the plan is actually put into action.

I don't think most UK/Fil relationships will be affected, as MOST are above board, with proper procedures followed.

lets hope not, if someone is refused FLR or ILR for whatever reason, very harsh that they should leave the UK and appeal

What I have been reading its basically illegal immigrants, foreign national criminals & failed asylum seekers who will get the boot.

The likes of FLR & ILR if not approved under immigration rues shouldn't be effected as these are legitimate cases and would fall under article 8 as a right to a private family life outside the rules.

Thats my reading into it correct me if I'm wrong...

not sure yet, you would have thought it wouldn't effect spouses, but then again they could be married to a British citizen and still be an undesirable

the problem is these do fall under article 8, that's why they are still here ! , while you don't get to use article 8 to bring your spouse here, nothing stopping you going to live in the phils, as some have been told on here by the British Embassy when they've been refused a visa

I'm in a good mood today, so have decided to agree with Joe for once..............
Joe's right, 18K is ridiculous, I say let everyone in, no need to prove you can support your spouse, have a house, have some benefits, if you can be bothered to work make sure you're in a union and getting well above the pitiful minimum wage.

for once your talking some common sense
you would have thought in your own country you would have a right to bring your spouse here, just as Europeans living in the UK have without any restrctions

oh and it was the Tories who brought in the 'primary purpose rule' in the past, even you SimonH with all your wealth might not have been able to bring your spouse here because of that, oh it was a Labour gov and jack straw that scrapped that rule, lucky you
