    Quick question about sponsor's letter

    Hi all!

Last year my spouse visa application was refused because we didn't meet the financial requirements with self employed documents. Now I'm getting ready to start a new application using my husband's employed documents. Question is, is it okay to mention about my husband's past self employed job in his invitation letter? Or shall we just mention his present employment?

Maybe best to be upfront about your husband previously being self-employed ... if only for the sake of keeping the record straight.

Can't do any harm mentioning it ... and it is always as well to be on "the safe side" - in case the ECO dealing with your fresh application decides to undertake any past checks ... which he/she [possibly] could do!

Good Luck ... as long as you're able to comply with all the requirements this time around ... ... I'm sure everything bodes well for success.

Sir Arthur, if we tell everything will it affect my new application? I'm a bit scared if they ask evidences from previous self employed even if were using Category A income from employed in the UK. We can't provide all the evidences from self employment that's why I had to wait for my husband to get employed and start another application.

... there shouldn't be any reason for your husband's previous circumstances affecting any subsequent application as each submission is treated solely on its own merits.

If your husband meets the financial requirement under his current employment there's no need to submit anything further on that aspect.

Keep the sponsors supporting letter focused. Where you met, how long you have been together, how you have maintained contact, important events and meetings between yourselves, and plans you have made for living in the UK (specifically, why you are opting to live in the UK).

Keep it as simple as possible and above all be honest about everything, if there are any remaining complicated or unusual circumstances about your application then it should be thoroughly explained in the supporting letter.

Avoid including anything that is not totally relevant to the application.

You should minimise the need for any additional unnecessary scrutiny

Thank you Sir Terpe and Sir Arthur Could you also give me an advice what to answer on online application form questions

    26. Have you made an application to the home office to remain in the UK in the last 10 years? Shall I answer yes and say it was refused?

    27. Have you been refused entry to the UK in the last 10 years? For example at a UK airport or seaport. (Ive never been to UK)

    I don't think that's correct Michael.

    If anything it's the opposite

Sorry if I'm wrong Peter, but she says she has made a previous application to enter UK so 26 is Yes, also I would have thought no to 27 because she's never been to a UK airport or seaport, I'm confused now

Q27 refers to being refused entry

There should be an additional question somewhere about being refused a visa

In which case refused entry is no and refused visa is yes

Thank you Sir Terpe and Sir Michael. Do I need to mention about my past refused application?

    Honey,
Isn't there a question asking if you've ever been refused a UK visa ?
    Usually there is one.

    It's a personal choice.
Unless it states so on the form there's no mandatory requirement
