    No, but most of my family did at one point, i.e. both grandads, my father and his brother. Steelworks closed in 1980 I think. 10,000 jobs gone in one foul swoop! We thought it was the end of the world lol, but Corby rose from the ashes with government subsidies and grants etc.

    Corby no longer relies on one large employer, we still have tube making which was the most profitable part of the business and still employs over 2,000. Then we have R.S Components - which is the 2nd largest employer - where I worked for 10 years before going self employed by starting my own taxi business.

    I only asked because I used to collect from the steelworks whilst driving for Cocky Howard ( P C Howard of Kings Cliff)!

    Yeah, I remember them dark blue trucks, not sure if they are still in business
