Fred, normal processing time is one year + now... according to the research I've done across different expat forums.
The 'helpline' is a non-govt agency who don't even have access to any of the paperwork, so pointless wasting phone-call money.
I'll give it another month or two, then email the passport office. (I am able to track the application online).
