    Fiancee visa

I have a 16 year old Pinay fiancee. This is a serious relationship and we are currently spending 3 months living together in the Philippines. The rules state a fiancee must be 18 years old to be granted a settlement visa, but in fact both the Home Office and British Embassy in Manila have said go ahead with an application. Is there any chance they will grant this application or do they just want the 26,000 php? I would welcome any help from those who have similar experiences or know how to ensure a successful application. Many thanks. Wade

You should read the Immigration rules, If it's said applicant must be age 18 or over then you must follow the rules. Don't listen to those poeple who told you to try applying your fiance a visa even they're from Home Office or British EMbassy. Rules is rules! Don't take a risk, it's a big visa fee!

firstly welcome to the forum..When I apllied for a fiancee visa last year it cost around £500 now it only costs 26,000php??

with regards to ur querries, I guess it will be better to wait for two years more since you said she is only 16 years old because it is what is stated in the HO so at least u can also gather some more evidences with ur relationship but who knows if u have the money why not having a try??

Thanks for the reply. The rules are clear on the UK Visa and other websites, it is true. I just hoped someone would have had a similar experience and could help with advice. I believe each application is taken on its merits and special circumstances can be taken into consideration. What these may be I have no idea.
For those who question my sanity or baulk at the age of my fiancee, I ask for a little tolerance and an open mind. There are always exceptions to common or accepted wisdom. My fiancee and I are fully aware of the complexities of a relationship with such an age gap, but I have full confidence in her maturity and my own.
Good luck to all of you, whatever your circumstances.

    Public Warning

You are admitting to a relationship with a child, 16 is far too young to be carrying on, and if you do so, you run the risk of being arrested for statutory rape of a minor.

Although the official age is 12, there are reports that foreigners who have relationships with young girls under the age of 18 years have been duly arrested and had the inconvenience of having money extorted from them.

I would be very careful with this relationship.

A good point Pete to be careful there but 16 is also the age of consent here so the child comment is a bit loaded I had one of my daughters at 16 in a relationship with a 22 year old and while I didnt like it much she was the more mature of the two.

My understanding in the Philis was any kind of GRO activety was illegal under 18 and marriage too is that right.?

yes each application is taken on its own merits, but within the limits of immigration law, law as you know states you must be 18, as i've said b4, that will likely rise to 21 to reduce the number of teenagers forced into marriage.

special or compassionate circumstances, something the HO are not known for..

good luck thou, you will need it

I would have no problem if my 16 year daughter was dating a guy of 20+ however I may have a problem with a man who is 30+ and even more of a problem if he was 50+ its all a matter of what is appropriate and what is not.

If any man who is in the Philippines engages in any kind of sexual activity with a young lady who is clearly below the age of 18 years old, then he of course runs the risk of being arrested and charged with all sorts of offences subject to him paying large sums of money to put right the matter.

My motive for writing this is to caution men who go to Philippines to be fully aware of the young ladies age prior to any sexual contact.

That is good advice and should be taken.

With all due respect, I would desist in any further contact with the girl.
As other members have posted, you are at high risk of losing your money, but more importantly your freedom.
The moment you fall out with any of her relatives... You will be shopped.....
If you are charged with anything to do with engaging in sex with a minor, rightly or wrongly... You might be at risk of having to sign on the sex offender register here in the UK, upon your return... After you spend "time" overthere....

Whatever path you choose... Good luck...

But ...16....???? Not with my kid.... If I have to swing for it....

Relatives, friends even the neighbours may shop you.

You may hope they shop you rather than take matters in to their own hands.

Again it does depend how old you are if your 18 yourself then like others say its different to a far older guy.

Just be careful you could like others say be walking into a mine field with lead boots on.

Surely when you posted the age of this young girl you must have expected the sort of replies you are getting?

I have no problem with age difference normally but 16. At this age this girl should not be thinking of getting serious with a much older guy but studying and the normal things girls do at that age.

likes having babies and pushing prams

    oh thats only in liverpool

thats why the gov will raise the age to 21 for a spouse visa, to stop teenagers being forced into marriages.

Not just forcing but also so people can make the right choice and i know at 16 i would have been out of my depth if i had got married. The responbilties would have been to much.

Sorry Wade, it rare to see many comments along the same vein but there are rational reasons behind them.

1 first and foremost she is underage, plain and simple
2 Secondly, I can scarcely believe that she fully understands what she is considering doing
3 Thirdly, to even think of taking a girl of that age to another country and away from her family in my opinion does not indicate caring or love for that girl

Please take heed for both your sakes!

    Yeah... well....

I am not sure he likes the "constructive" criticisms received to date....

Seems kind of set in his ways......
So agreeing with you 100%, doesn't come too difficult....

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw the last of him.

    16.........???

Correct me if i am wrong but surely like here if he is having sex with this girl then he is a sex offender if he is over 18.

Although i am only saying IF he is having sex with her but all we have to go on is that he is living with her...

why did you post the age as you have only got negative reply's....

I am 25 and my GF is 21 (22 this year) and i think the age is not too much of a gap though as we don't know your age we cannot really reply..

Price for visa's seem to be rising (£515) and you will not get one with the current age and be very careful what you say... people might call you GG (Gary Glitter)
