Im just curious if what will the Gov't do if the over stayers decide to go back home? Will they hold them at the airport?

nothing unless an immigration officer stops them b4 they try and board the plane, which is only a small chance, and if they do, they might stamp their passport that they've overstayed, or at worse maybe interview them and give them a removal notice, and then let them leave on their flight..
if over stayers leave b4 the end of this month, the fact that they have overstayed in the past, should not lead any future visa apps being refused just for overstaying. after the end of the month they could face a ban from coming back to the uk. so we might see many going back b4 the end of this month, only for them to apply for a visa to come back![]()
