You don't say what type of work you do but as a creative aside you could form a ltd company lend it £4000 as a Directors loan and pay yourself as an employee(Director) re-loaning as necessary and voila regular payslips

Sounds a good idea - sorry if I sound cynical, I suspect the Immigration officials would require annual accounts, statements from Accountants etc

I still think the best wheeze would be to set up a bogus college in your spare bedroom then get your wife in on a "student" visa. It obviously works as between June and August 2009 the British High Commissions in Mumbai, New Delhi and Dhaka issued 19950 "student" visas.

Hmm ... all well and good, BUT ... I'm sure I either read somewhere [or maybe just heard!] that the British Goverment intends to clamp down on the number of "Student" Visas. WHEN this policy will take effect, though ... I've no clear idea!

To be perfectly honest, I'd have thought that five grand in savings and 6 months worth of bank statements would've given someone a head start! But, like I said earlier to Jim, I was reluctant to speculate on his situation.

It took effect 1 year ago and the result of this farcical crackdown was a tripling in the number of student visas issued. All is revealed in the link at the start here http://filipinaroses.com/showthread.php?t=20627
