Work and Settlement visa.

Hello everyone.

I am new here and wish to start if i may with a request for some advice! I wish to go back to the UK after having lived in the Philippines for two years. We have been told that it will make an application for a settlement visa, much easier if my wife has a job offer. There is a good possibility of this and i would like to know please if she went to work in the UK, would we be able to apply for a settlement visa there, or would she have to come back to the Philippines to apply for one here?

I wish i could say i have been happy here. Unfortunately i can't. Also as we have a 2yr old daughter, i believe she will be better educated in the UK. My own problem is my cultural background and profession which revolved around classical Music and the Arts. The nearest you can get to that here seemingly is videoke! I am getting rather tired though of being asked where England is. A while ago a rather well dressed and "professional" looking lady asked if England was in France! Of course one can only laugh at such things but.....!

Of course we may be going out of the frying pan into the fire as all is not rosy inthe UK i am sure, weather excluded. However, we both are willing to take that chance and i do hasten to add that my wife is just as eager to move out there as i am.

i take it your british and your wife is filipino, if so your wife will need a settlement visa, it would help a bit if your wife did have a job offer, but the burden is on you, as you would be the one sponsoring her.

ideally you would need 6 months of bank statements showing you had £2-3k in the bank, 6 months pay slips, and a place for her to live without it being overcrowded, so you can probably tell from this, you would probably have to come back to the uk on your own, find a job, get some payslips and bank statements and find a place to live before your wife can apply for a visa.

and no she cannot really come to the uk, maybe as a visitor, even that you face the same problems.. your wife can really only apply for a settlement visa from outside the uk, as she needs entry clearence.
