BRITISH CITIZEN / NATURALIZATION need help

    Hi to all,
Hello im applying for british citizen/ naturalization soon. but i just got one important question that me and my husband really want to find out what the answer is, its been bothering us for weeks now.

Here's was the situation is, my husband and i had plan to apply for british citizenship for me in the first month of this year (January) we had all the application form ready and the refferees form signed for so its all done and ready. but we just hit a financial problem and cant get the form sent that time. now we want to send my application form next month. my question is.......

Q: IS MY REFFEREE FORM THAT HAS BEEN SIGNED AND DATED IN JANUARY WILL STILL BE VALID EVEN IF I SENT IT NEXT MONTH FOR MY APPLICATION FORM? OR DO I NEED MY REFFEREES TO SIGN MY REFFEREES FORM AGAIN FOR ME?

    regards rea

i don't remember reading anywhere about a time limit

but if your worried, it might be worth paying about £45 for a single person, or £80 for a married couple and booking an appointment with your locals councils Nationality Checking Service

    where they will ..

    What we do
We can make sure that your form is correctly filled in, your application is validly submitted and that the unwaivable requirements for citizenship are met. This helps reduce unnecessary delays when applying for British citizenship. Completed applications checked for accuracy (with the correct documents and fees) are usually resolved quicker than incomplete applications.

Our advisers are trained and registered to check and send your application.

    They will:

    * photocopy and certify your passport and other valuable documents so these remain in your possession and then
    * send your application and correct fee to the Home Office by special delivery post

I think if you telephone your local Checking Service they will tell you the latest regulation.
When I was a Civil Servant and used to sign all kinds of papers we were always advised (not instructed) to inform the person that they must then use our sign within 6 months. I really don't know what the current advise is, I can't imagine it changed but you just never know.

BTW we used the local checking service and although you pay for it, we found they did an excellent service, with loads of advice and useful info. Very well worth the extra money.
I would very strongly support the suggestion of Joe bloggs. Brilliant, but you pay. It's a very fair price though.

    Congratulations wrigglybum

I do enjoy good news stories.

If I remember correctly, my wife had a letter from UKBA to say she her application had been approved and that she must attend a citizenship ceremony. Two weeks later she received another letter from the local county council stating that she must fill-out the enclosed citizenship ceremony booking forms.

However the very important document is the UKBA Citizenship Invitation letter (the same letter that informed us that application had been approved). This Invitation Letter is the ONLY document that will be accepted at the ceremony.

If you do not have the Invitation Letter from UKBA may I suggest giving them a telephone call.
The telephone number for the Nationality Group is 0845 010 5200
    They are located in Liverpool.

    Don't worry ...........not you alone................

I was with my wife and it seemed I was the only one who actually knew the words.

Maybe they won't do it. But if they do it's very very funny....................

Don't worry you will not be embarassed or ashamed................ but it's funny that the music plays and not one person knows what to sing.

    Citizenship ceremony date change

I have a query regarding the citizenship ceremony.

I've recvd. a letter from my council today stating 1st September as the ceremony date. Is there any possibility of getting this ceremony done at other nearby councils? OR is switching to a private ceremony the only alternative?
