I do feel sorry for Prime Ministers when this subject comes up. I wouldn't even know the answer, so I certainly wouldn't expect the PM to.
I'd much rather he concentrated on running the country, rather than memorising the cost of staple food items!

i dont feel sorry for him, if he has no idea of the cost of living, how does he know if the state pension, benefits or minimum wage is enough for someone to live onit just shows how out of touch he is with most people in this country.
Jamesey who does your shopping then, i've got a rough idea how much most things are..

Miliband is oblivious as to what the "ordinary" people pay for anything - when energy Minister he was responsible for hitting the utility companies with huge green taxes which they merely passed onto the consumer. I put "Prime Ministers" plural because it happens to all of them at some point, whether it's Cameron, Brown, Blair....
It's just not relevant for a Prime Minister to know the exact cost of a basket of a specific food. So many (as can be seen in this thread) will try to make cheap political capital out of it.
I usually do the shopping in our house and I know that the bread I often buy costs about £1.30. Don't have a clue about a sliced value loaf though!
Have a go at this. I scored 2!
