steveL i would suggest that you didn't say you mahal was coming for 3-6 months in your application i see this as no ECO worthy of the name would grant you a visit(tourist)visa on that basis as its not a visit it is aperiod of time for you to live together before commiting to marraige, i would be very careful if they find out you have not told the truth and stated she was coming here for 2-3 weeks you may have future problems when applying for spouse or susequent fiancee visas.... the right advice was for you to apply fiancee have left before the 6months was ended and marry your mahal in philippines and applied for spouse for her to join you
just my opinion and wish you all the best, i would warn other forum members to be careful when applying for visit visa they can be difficult to obtain without job bank account reason to return to ph and accomadation rented or owend, even if you are the most reliable sponsor going ,fiancee or spouse is always the correct way to go
